What are the purpose of television Idents?
- To help establish and promote a channels brand identity, use of colour, logo, font type, size, placement, techniques used, mood/tone. Non diegetic/diegetic music.
- They help the audience to connect with a channel by b9oth targeting and reflecting the audience.
- Reflecting/establishing the channels ethos.
- Helps to provide gaps in the schedule and helps to maintain continuity across the broadcast schedule.
What are the opportunities for the TV Ident production?
- Helps to target and engage viewers.
- Helps the audience to remember your channel.
- Idents, unlike break bumpers that only appear on commercial channels, are typically used by every channel.
- Within the given guidelines, Ident design offers a great deal of creative freedom.
